Review/Giveaway of “The Prodigal Pig” DVD

Compass Classroom Premium Membership free for one month

We recently received a copy of The Prodigal Pig, which is an On the Farm With Farmer Bob DVD published by Tommy Nelson.

It tells, through the farm animals on the farm, the biblical story of The Prodigal Son.  It’s one of my favorite parables of Jesus!  My kids who watched it, and enjoyed it, learned the lesson of being content.  Porkchop the Pig is discontent playing music just for the animals on the farm, so he takes all his allowance and leaves Farmer Bob.  Things go well for him. . . until he runs out of money.

Jenny the Dog is also discontent and wants her house to be redecorated, not caring that other animals need their houses fixed up since they are in disrepair.

Finally, Hercules the tough-talking rooster learns how to forgive–another great lesson for our kids.

Voice talent on this DVD is provided by Randy Travis, Amy Grant, and Vince Gill.

You’ll also find bonus features focusing on literacy, and specifically the letter “P”.

Thomas Nelson is providing a copy of The Prodigal Pig for a giveaway! Just enter through the rafflecopter app below. (Winner only in U.S. and must respond to my email within 24 hours.  The winner will be chosen next Monday, 8/12/13.)

My favorite would be the Good Samaritan. This teaches us all what we should be like all the time.

  3. My favorite is probably the one in the movie. the Prodigal son. My son has severe special needs/behavior issues. I feel like it illustrates that he can always “come home” and start over. We as well as his Heavenly Father are always going to rejoice in him coming home!

    1. I love that, Liz! What a beautiful picture that you can continually see of God’s love for us!

  5. We have not watched this one yet! I bet my kids will love it! They are pretty hooked on the veggie tales dvd’s so I know this one would get some use! Thanks for sharing at the Friday Follow Along!
