My Kids’ Favorite Building Toys that Encourage Creativity

Compass Classroom Premium Membership free for one month

Through the years we have compiled some wonderful learning toys. They provide hours of fun for the kids, while secretly leading them to learn building skills and physics concepts! Take a look at my kids’ favorite building toys that encourage creativity.

Disclosure: I get commissions for purchases made through affiliate links in this post.

I keep these put up and only take them down on certain occasions to make them even more special for the kids. And, they have to put it ALL away before moving on to their next activity. 🙂

If they are too expensive to buy a huge set all at once, you can begin with a starter kit and add to it for birthdays or Christmas. Ask grandparents, aunts/uncles, godparents, etc. to add to the sets as well!

Zoobs

We first found these about 10 years ago. There was a time when my younger kids played and built with them every single day.

Aren’t these guys cute? They are now ages 14, 15, and 16!

Magformers

Magformers are fairly new to us. We found them a couple of years ago. I love that the magnets are inside so there is no chance of them being swallowed. These come in a variety of shapes and colors, as well as extra pieces like wheels.

Gears

Gears are another toys we have had for years! These are great because they can really learn how a gear, and therefore a more complex machine, works.

Super Magnet Set

The Super Magnet Set does have small pieces, including magnets, so you probably don’t want it if you have little ones at home. Or, just be careful to get it completely put away before the toddlers and babies are around. The set has various shapes and types of magnets, and my kids love playing with it!

Wooden Train Railway System

Our train set was probably the first building set we invested in. For years, the grandmas gave us a train for birthdays and Christmas.

A couple of other building sets my kids have loved are Playmobile and Lego. A new one we haven’t played with yet that I’d love to check out is Tegu. What building toys do you like the most?
