Easter Resources

Here are some of our favorite ways to prepare for Easter–for remembering Christ’s sacrifice for us and to honor Him:

Books we read:

The Very First Easter by Paul L. Maier

Amon’s Adventure  by Ytreeride.  We read this last year during Lent.  It’s a very exciting story leading up to the crucifixion and and resurrection of Christ.

Ann Voskamp’s printable Passion Tree ornaments (devotional).  This week we’ll begin a daily reading and put the pictures on a Passion Tree.  (We’ll have to double up on some of the readings since we waited too long to get started.)  See her website for a free download.

Resurrection Eggs and Miss Patty Cake’s book  Always a favorite with the younger kids!

Easter Ideals book  I love to read a couple of poems aloud daily about Easter and Spring.

Easter (Resurrection) Lapbook  At least some of my kids do this lapbook every year!  There is a free download from Lapbook Lesson.

Learning/ Singing hymns and other Easter songs  Here are my favorites:

Christ the Lord is Risen Today

Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted.(Fernando Ortega)

He Lives (reminds me of the Baptist church I grew up in)

For I Know My Redeemer Lives. (Crystal Lewis)

My Redeemer Lives. (Nicole C. Mullins)

There is a Fountain Filled With Blood. (Selah)

How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

End of the Beginning (David Phelps)

Resurrection cookies and resurrection rolls  We still haven’t done this, but I want to this year!

What we don’t do is color eggs (usually) or anything with the Easter bunny/Easter baskets (presents and candy).  Just a hint–if you start a precedent, it’s hard to change it.  I’m glad we’ve never focused on Easter bunny or baskets for Easter with our kids!

May you have a blessed Easter preparation time these next two weeks focusing on the beautiful sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
