Singing Hymns
Here is a tradition that I am so glad we started early in our family.
Every night we sing 2 songs right before the boys (ages 4 and 5) get in bed. This is after we read and pray. (My husband and I put the boys to bed together.) I have made a list of Sunday through Saturday. We sing a hymn and another Christian song every night. We usually sing a hymn in church every week, but not many of the ones I grew up with. I really want my children to know these great hymns of our faith!
Here is the list of songs we are doing now:
Sunday: Amazing Grace, This Little Light of Mine
Monday: Victory in Jesus, Oh How He Love You and Me
Tuesday: I’ll Fly Away, How Great Thou Art
Wednesday: Because He Lives, He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands
Thursday: Just a Closer Walk With Thee, You Are My Hiding Place
Friday: This is My Father’s World, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Saturday: I Have Decided to Follow Jesus, Be Thou My Vision
Some of the songs we have done previously include Jesus Loves Me, God is So Good, How Great Thou Art, Oh, How I Love Jesus, Holy, Holy, Holy and Trust and Obey.
What a wonderful thing you are teaching your boys. Do you remember the little girl stuck in a well several years ago? She was singing songs from Sunday School to comfort her! Music sooths the soul! LOVE the title of your page. I choose joy too. Here’s one, “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart…to stay. God Bless You.
