Who Is This Earth Science Curriculum For?

What’s Included in this Homeschool Science Curriculum?
The homeschool science curriculum consists of:
- A hardcover Discovering Design with Earth Science student textbook
- An Answer Key & Test Booklet
- An optional but highly recommended Science Roots guide
Everything is well-organized and designed to be straightforward for homeschool use.
What Will Students Learn?
The homeschool science course includes 16 chapters, typically completed over about 32 weeks (roughly 2 weeks per chapter).
Topics include:
- Earth’s crust, minerals, and rocks
- The lithosphere and geological processes
- Fossils and interpreting the geological record
- The hydrosphere and atmosphere
- Weather and climate
- The solar system and beyond
One thing I appreciate is that the curriculum presents multiple perspectives when discussing earth history—covering both widely accepted scientific views (such as evolution) and a Christian worldview, including the young-earth creationist view.

How these Christian Homeschool Science Lessons Work
Each lesson is broken into manageable daily assignments. Here’s what a typical flow looks like:
- Read a short section (a couple of pages or so)
- Complete a Comprehension Check (I'd have my students write this in a spiral notebook)
- Occasionally, stop and do an experiment (Plan to have the supplies ahead of time!)
- Review key vocabulary–bolded terms (Write these in their notebook, too.)
At the end of each chapter:
- Students complete a Chapter Review. (Find the answers in the Answer Key & Test Booklet)
- Review what they got right and wrong. Study.
- Then take a test. (included in the separate booklet)
- Grade the test. (Find the answers in the Answer Key & Test Booklet)
This structure makes it very easy to stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.

Experiments Made Simple
One of my favorite features is how practical the experiments are.
Most experiments use simple household items like Play-Doh, yeast, and basic kitchen supplies. As a busy homeschool mom, I love when I don't need to plan too far ahead or track down special materials. This makes it possible to actually do the experiments without stress, which makes science feel doable and enjoyable for all of us!
You can either gather these yourself or purchase a convenient supply kit from the Berean Builders website.
This keeps science hands-on without making it stressful for mom.

Helpful Extras

Video Support
There’s also a companion website with optional videos that demonstrate concepts and experiments—great for visual learners.
Science Roots Guide
The optional Science Roots book helps students learn prefixes and roots like:

This is incredibly helpful for building scientific vocabulary and confidence.
