Apologia Flying Creatures (Zoology 1) Lapbook
Now that we are finished with school, it’s time to share what we did this year!
Two of my kids (ages 8 and 10) enjoyed doing the lapbook materials which are included in the Apologia Zoology 1, Flying Creatures Notebooking Journal. (My oldest, who doesn’t like lapbooks, did all the vocabulary crosswords which are included in the journal.)
If you aren’t familiar with lapbooks, inside each of the flaps/booklets/etc. they have written and/or drawn pictures of what they learned. Our mini-books included:
- Categories of insects
- Butterflies, Skippers, and Moths
- Praying Mantises and Social Insects
- Birds’ nests and Bats
- Bird Migration
- Extinct and Endangered Animals
- Benefits of Birds
- Hatching and Nesting
Next year we are doing Apologia Zoology 2, Swimming Creatures and will be using the Notebooking Journals again. They now have a Junior version, which will be great for my younger kids who don’t write as much. I love these science books!

That is a gorgeous lapbook/notebook!

So inspiring to chanced upon this while searching for what to teach on Lesson 12 to my co-op next Monday. Would you be able to share the lapbook print out with me? Thanks!!
