Review of Good Good Father a Picture Book by Chris Tomlin & Pat Barrett Giveaway Ends Oct. 17

Last week my 6-year-old son told me that we need to have “Picture Book Reading Time” every day. I’m very good about reading aloud to my kids, starting with board books when they were babies, then to picture books, and then novels. But, recently, I have dropped the board books and picture books and focused almost exclusively on the novels (historical fiction, etc.).

I’m really glad my son has asked me to begin reading picture books again. They are such a wonderful way for me to connect with my two youngest kids who are growing up so fast.

"Good Good Father" book review and giveaway (ends Oct. 17)

Today we read Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin and Pat Barrett, illustrated by Lorna Hussey. May I just tell you that you need to get this book. What an awesome message and adorable illustrations!

The Story:

A little bear named Tucker travels through the kingdom to ask the King for help. Along the way he encounters different animals and asks them what he should take the King as a gift. Their suggestions teach Tucker about different qualities about God. When he finally gets to the the King, he finds that He is was just waiting for Tucker to come and ask for His help. They set off immediately to go to help those Tucker was seeking Him for. Tucker also discovers that Tucker himself was the best gift he could have given to the King.

My Review:

Good Good Father is a book I’ll be reading over and over to my children. Not only does it have a beautiful story, it tells a message our children need to hear–about the wonderful qualities of God, but also that God wants us to have a relationship with him. We are important to Him, and He loves us more than anything!

The book sounds neat. All my children will like it, I’m sure, but especially my youngest 4. I have a neat story– When I was around 16, I attended a youth camp put on by Dawson McAllister. The music was done by a man named Todd Proctor. He had a guy helping him who was just starting out. No one had heard of him. Proctor was the known one. The assistant was Chris Tomlin!! I was so surprised when Tomlin 1st became famous.
