Healthy changes
I was checking my goals for the year. Some have been reached; some haven’t! I gained 60 pounds with my last pregnancy. My baby has just turned 10 months old. I’ve lost 50 pounds, but the last 10 is hanging on tight! Actually, it would probably be 20 pounds left to lose if I hadn’t lost 5 pounds each during two recent illnesses. I feel a bit motivated to get rid of the extra weight in case I get pregnant again (which has always happened between 7 and 14 months).
Recently I heard about an exercise program that I wanted to try called T-Tapp. I checked out Teresa Tapp’s book Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes from the library and read it last weekend during the Fourth of July holiday. I started the “Boot Camp”, she calls it, on Wednesday. Today was Day 3. So far, so good.
For the Boot Camp, I am supposed to do the 15-minute set of exercises once a day for 14 days. Since I am reading how to do the exercises from the book, it has taken me about 45 minutes to figure out how to do them. A few are online at the T-Tapp website. I decided to order a DVD to make sure I’m doing them correctly.
One thing that makes T-Tapp different is that you are activating far more muscles than in traditional exercise. That makes it possible to get far greater results in far less time. I actually think I can continue exercising now! I will do only 15 minutes a day (even though it’s an intense 15 minutes) and get cardio, strength training, and flexibility training. After I’m in shape I can cut down to every other day and then just a couple of times a week. Very doable for this extremely busy, low energy, homeschooling mom of 6 young kids!
I hope to get into my old clothes within 2 weeks or a month and lose a few inches. I might not actually lose any “pounds” on the scale since I’m expecting to be gaining quite a bit of muscle. The number on the scale doesn’t matter to me as long as I can wear my old clothes and get toner and stronger and healthier.
After I get good at the 15-minute exercises, I plan to start eating healthier, too. I have already started a high fiber diet (30 grams a day)–I’ll post on that next. The T-Tapp eating plan is to make a differentiation between God-Made and Man-Made foods. You should eat God-Made foods only for 2 days and then can eat some Man-Made food every third day. I think this will be very doable for me, too! I don’t think it would be very easy for me to completely eliminate donuts, fast food burgers, Oreos, and M & M’s!
