Heritage Farm Festival
A few weeks ago we went to a local Farm Festival. The focus was to preserve the heritage of the farmers around our area. Lots of people bring their tractors for the tractor parade!
My 2 yo enjoyed the ride on Dad’s back.
The girls loved this pink tractor! In the background there is a steam-engine-runned saw that was sawing huge trees for demonstration.
Here the kids used a machine to push the kernals off a dried ear of corn. (Used for feeding livestock.)
They got to make ropes.
Riding in a barrel train.
Pretending to milk a cow.
Pumping water.
We bought some Butternut Squash (which I’ll make into soup soon.) In the background there is a thresher demonstrating separating the wheat kernals from the stalk.
And we picked up this pretty home-made bench.
We also saw people doing blacksmithing, sewing with a treadle machine, and tatting. I had never seen tatting before. My daughter wants to learn how to do it now!
