Lake House Vacation

A couple of weeks ago we had a visit to my in-laws’ lake house.  There was some good weather, and some not-so-good.  We had a great time riding the jet ski.  But getting swimmer’s itch from being in the water was no fun! Our last evening there we decided to take a little cruise on the pontoon boat.   We were way across the lake when all of a  sudden we heard a loud crack.  My husband immediately switched off the motor, and we discovered that the wood that holds the motor behind the boat (I think it’s called a transom) had cracked.  We thought we were going to lose the motor to the bottom of the lake!  Thankfully, my brother-in-law had tied a rope across the bottom of the boat which was used to attach another rope to pull an inner tube.  My husband almost removed it, and I almost suggested that he lift it above the motor since is was dragging behind.  Thankfully, we left it there  because that is what kept the motor from completely falling off.  There was one other boat on the lake at the time, and they saw us flagging them down and agreed to tow us back home.  What an adventure!

We celebrated a couple of birthdays while there and my in-laws’ 50th Wedding Anniversary!
