It’s a never-ending battle, isn’t it? Keeping the house clean and organized when you still have kids living in it. What’s that line from The Incredibles? “Can’t this place stay clean for even 10 minutes?” Well, there are a few things we can do to improve the situation. Make sure your kids know how to clean.
It takes training, effort, and follow-up. “Don’t expect what you don’t inspect.” The nice thing is that once you’ve taught one kid how to clean a certain area, they can help train the next child!
Make a plan.
Have certain people and certain days or times for specific chores. My kids know their unique meal-time kitchen chores, afternoon clean-up chore, and Saturday chore (bathroom, vacuum).

Change it up.
Adjust as the kids grow and activities change. Now that my oldest son has a job outside the home, he doesn’t do as many at-home chores. And, as my younger kids grow, they can do harder tasks!

Invest in good cleaning tools.
I love my canister vacuum which is easier for my kids to use than a heavier push vacuum cleaner. High-quality toilet brushes are a must. And, the Swiffer-type mops work great for a simple mopping job by a 7-year-old.
