5 Reasons Homeschoolers Should Go to Meijer for Back-to-School Shopping
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Meijer. The opinions and text are all mine.
I recently heard about a Teacher Discount program (which, of course, applies to homeschool teachers as well as private and public school teachers) at Meijer and headed over to check it out. I have to admit that even though there is a Meijer about 15 minutes from my house, I had never gone inside the store before. Wow–I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the experience! I will definitely be going back to Meijer for future shopping trips. Today, I’ll share 5 reasons homeschoolers should go to Meijer for back-to-school shopping.
1. Back-to-School Discount
The back-to-school discount offer is available at all Meijer stores from July 9 – September 30, 2019.
Teachers who present a current school ID at their local Meijer Customer Service desk will receive a coupon for 15% off purchases made in-store. (Some restrictions apply.)
Teachers can obtain a new coupon any time they return to Meijer throughout the back-to-school shopping season.
When I first entered the Meijer store. I headed to the Customer Service desk, which was conveniently located at the front of the store. I showed the representative my Homeschool Teacher ID (from HSLDA) with my driver’s license. She looked at it for a while and then called her supervisor. At this point, I was a bit nervous because I had specifically checked with Meijer before accepting this assignment to share about the special teacher discount.
(A few weeks before I had asked what Meijer’s official policy on homeschoolers was and whether there would be any difficulty with us getting the teacher discount coupon. I was assured there would be no problem.)
So, the supervisor came over and looked over my ID and asked me where I taught. I told her I homeschooled, and she said, Ok.”
I got my coupon and started my shopping experience!
2. BOGO and 50% off Sales
Right at the front of the store, there was a great display for Scotch and Post-It BOGO sales. You can see from these pictures that the yellow tags show that lots of different school supplies were already on sale. The 15% coupon was taken off after the discounts from the regular sales.
3. Great Displays
They didn’t just have the school supplies in one section. They were mostly along a wide aisle, and very easy to find. I like how the displays made it really easy to find exactly what I was looking for.
4. Variety of School Items to Purchase
I have to admit, I thought Meijer was just a grocery store. I was shocked that not only does Meijer have groceries and regular items such as office supplies and cosmetics, they also sell shoes, clothes, backpacks, lunch bags, sports gear, household items, and so much more! So, you can get all your back-to-school shopping done at Meijer!
5. Great Customer Service
I was pleased with the customer service at Meijer. They were helpful, friendly, and kind. I decided to go through a regular check-out lane to see how that experience was, even though I usually do self-check when I’m shopping. I found out that the 15% off Teacher coupon automatically knows which items to discount, so you don’t have to separate your purchases into school/office supplies vs. everything else. So, next time I go and pick up another coupon before September 30, 2019, I’ll do the self-check.
My Purchases
I got some great buys at Meijer and things we definitely needed in our homeschool classroom this year: post-it flags for bookmarks, masking tape, mechanical pencils, crayons and markers, 3-ring binders, spiral notebooks, pencil bags, and more!
