“23 Blast” DVD Giveaway

23 Blast movie review

Welcome to another movie giveaway today.  Have you heard about 23 Blast?  It’s based on a true story.
As a typical teenager, Travis Freeman (Mark Hapka) is a local hero both on and off the high-school football field in his small Kentucky town, but in 1997, Travis contracts an infection that destroys his optic nerve and renders him blind overnight. With the loving help and concern of his parents, physical therapist, coach, and best friend, Travis demonstrates what true bravery is: He continues to compete on the gridiron and helps his team advance to the state finals.  Rated PG-13 / 1h 42m
My Review:
This was another great family movie!  I will say first, though, that some of the themes are a bit intense, so it’s best for older kids.  There was no bad language, but the PG-13 rating is for teen drinking.
It was a very inspirational movie.  I love how people overcome the difficulties that they are faced with.  Travis had a sudden infection (menangitis) that caused blindness, and even though he went through the typical depression, he overcame his trial.  I loved the therapist character who pushed him to deal with his blindness and got him back to school and to take care of himeself.  I loved the coach who took a chance and allowed him to play football again.  I loved the “love” story, and the way Travis encouraged his best friend to do better than he was.  And, I loved that the real Travis was in the movie, too!  You’ll have to watch until the end to see who he is!

Looks like a fine movie. The trailer shows that if you have enough support behind you and you roll with your trials, there is no limit to what can be accomplished.
