Pregnancy Pains
There are a couple of things that happen during pregnancy that I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with when I’m not pregnant. One is heartburn; the other is calf cramps (charlie horses).
Immediately as I woke up this morning, I prayed, “Oh, God, please, No.” But it came anyway. I started rubbing my calf muscle to try to prevent the cramp from getting worse and doing my Bradley breathing exercises. I have had 3 babies with no medication and I can tell you that these cramps are as bad, if not worse, than labor! After about 5 minutes it settled down. My husband was out of town so he couldn’t help me. Then I had to figure out how I was going to get to the bathroom and get the girls out of their crib when they woke up. I hopped on one foot to the bathroom. It was quite a sight. Thank goodness I’m not too big yet! Then the Lord was gracious to me and gave me an hour before any of the other kids woke up. (I finished reading the book of Leviticus during this time!) When the boys came to my room, I told them I wished I had some crutches. I crawled down the stairs, and my 5 yo son ran to the garage to get a broken broom handle that I could use as a cane. He was so sweet! After another 20 minutes of carefully walking on it I was able to get the baby and carry her. Oh, I hope I don’t get another one!
Me too. Oh, Lord Jesus, please spare her of this pain and help her to complete her pregnancy with little hassle as possilbe. Bless her and her children with joy and peace and rest and quietness. Thank You Father. In Jesus name. Amen
I found that taking extra calcium/magnesium supplements seemed to decrease the cramps. I didn’t have any with my last child. But I did get restless legs, which doesn’t hurt, but makes me jumpy. Lavender essential oil seemed to help that a little, but not completely.
Oh, how I remember these! OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would wake up yelling “Owie, owie, owie!” and completely startle my husband awake (very hard to do, wake him). I’m sorry for you that you get those!
