Adventures in Odyssey A.C.T.S. Summer of Service: Post #2, with Giveaway

image001 Last month I told you about the Adventures in Odyssey A.C.T.S. Summer of Service Project.

Today we’ll see how everyone is doing and have a GIVEAWAY of the first 3 Imagination Station books!

Theme: Imagine creative and fun ways to serve using your unique gifts!

Unleashing Imagination

Children are spending more and more time in front of TVs, iPads, computers, and video games. That doesn’t leave much room for kids to dream up their own visual images—like the ones that fill their minds when they hear a great story! Rather than passively receiving images, kids actively engage in making images themselves when they hear a good story. Their imaginations are enriched and stimulated, and the material becomes more personal and memorable.

Adventures in Odyssey is all about great stories—and the power of the imagination. The beloved audio dramas are heard on over 700 radio stations, and AIO has recently expanded to books and devotionals—including The Imagination Station series, a fast-growing line of early chapter readers. You can check them out by downloading a FREE e-book of Imagination Station #1: Voyage with the Vikings!

This summer, Adventures in Odyssey encourages kids to write their OWN stories, as they join in ACTS: A Call to Serve! AIO is helping children use their imaginations to serve their family, community, and world this summer—maybe by sending a care package to a missionary or baking cookies for the local fire department. Check out www.whitsend.org/acts  for details and a chance to win fabulous prizes, including a mission trip with a parent to Costa Rica!

More important than prizes are the stories your child will tell about the creative ways they served others, and how they grew as a result. And what they come up with really might change the world!   Be sure to get an ACTS “Summer of Service” kit, available for download here.  I’ve already downloaded on for our family and will use it to help plan out our summer of service!

  1. We will be serving at Feed My Starving Children this summer! 🙂

  2. These books are amazing. I think we are on the most recent release. I love gifting them to my nephews as well
We are serving our neighbors. My 7 yr old son has already helped plant flowers with an elderly women. Also our neighbors who just moved in need sod and we hope to help with that. We picked berries and shared with many neighbors as a way of serving their hearts. As always we are looking for ways to serve.

  3. We plan to help in the nursery at church when they give the regular helpers a break. Thanks for the chance.

  4. Heather S says:

We are planning to give back by helping out at our local YMCA and are also in the process of buidling a neighborhood ‘little library’ box where we’ll put books for others to take and read!

  5. Suzie Williams says:

We are planning to serve by getting involved with our church’s VBS program.

  6. We are almost done with the process of being licensed for foster care and hope to start taking in kids in the next couple weeks!! We also do as many activities as we can with our church and us as a family to provide for the needs of foster youth in our community, as well as various service projects (usually with the homeless shelter and Ronald McDonald house)

  7. With a new baby we’re hanging around the house a lot this summer. We would usually be heading to South Carolina for a family mission trip this weekend and off to summer camp with our youth, but prayerfully we’ll be able to get back into serving next summer.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

    Christie

  8. Hubby & I are serving at VBS this week and we will take the kids to visit elderly shut ins later this summer. We always enjoy finding simple ways to serve the community!
