I am so excited to share with you an exciting new online course called Poetry Teatime: Holiday Edition from Dachelle McVey of Literary Adventures for Kids. She has made it easy for you to incorporate Poetry Teatime into your homeschool with these easy-to-use ideas!
Poetry Teatime Holiday Edition
First, in case you aren’t familiar with poetry teatime, let’s define it.
According to Julie Bogart, one of the most powerful ways to introduce challenging subject matter (such as poetry or Shakespeare) is to combine it with tea and snacks!
So, Poetry Teatime is a time when you do just that. It could be as simple as reading one poem while your kids eat a cookie and drink some juice.
Or, you can go all out with food, decorations, and other activities centered around a theme, such as a holiday theme!
Dachelle wrote Poetry Teatime: Holiday Edition to help you do that.
And, not only will your kids learn about poetry with this fun course, but they will be inspired to write as well!
You’ll receive all the instruction you need to successfully hold an entire year of Poetry Teatimes with holiday themes.

How We’re Using These Courses in our Homeschool
If you’ve been homeschooling a while, you know that it’s really helpful to do some deliberate things to make learning fun and interesting. Sometimes, it’s essential to eliminate burn-out to simply do something different every now and then.
That’s why we’re going to celebrate the holidays and special days throughout the year with both Poetry Teatime: Holiday Edition and Music Lessons for Holidays & Special Days.
I’m not the best with coming up with fun ideas for food and decorating, so I’m especially excited for those tips in Poetry Teatime: Holiday Edition, along with the practical tips of what to read (holiday poems) and activities to do with it.
We’ll top off the Poetry Teatime with the music lesson that goes with the holiday. I’m really excited about this and know my kids will love it!
When will we do the lessons? Some of them will be on the holiday itself, such as Halloween or Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day because we don’t take off school those days. But, others will be a few days (or even a week) early such as for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
