Review/ Giveaway: Hillsong United Empires CD
I have recently had the privilege to listen to the new Hillsong United Empires CD. On this album you’ll find over an hour’s worth of music in 12 songs. I really love some of Hillsong’s past songs, so I was excited to listen to Empires. If you aren’t familiar with Hillsong, they sing Christian worship music.

My Review:
I didn’t like this album as much as I expected I would. It just didn’t “wow” me. I’m sure it will appeal to a lot of people, though, because it is well-written and well-performed. There are 12 songs, some sung by a man and others by a woman. The music is calming, almost ethereal at times. My son said it sounded “symphonic.” Many of the songs have repeating motifs that remind me of Philip Glass. There were two songs I liked more than the others: “Rule” and “Captain.” I think this album will especially appeal to the older generations.

I have heard of Hillsong. However, my main interest is for my kids. I love introducing them to new, appropriate and encouraging music. They love it too and can never seem to get enough of music, it seems to be a natural part of them.

I’m quite familiar with Hillsong’s music and have especially liked many of Hillsongs United stuff. Haven’t really heard much from this latest CD though. I lead one of the worship teams in our church and we often do Hillsongs music, so I have quite a few reasons for wanting to win! 🙂
