Unit Studies for 2009

I love to do a unit study each month, which is usually something to do with history or science.  We check out a bunch of books from the library and do some hands-on activities (that I find from the internet or books and many times–lapbooks).   Here are my ideas for this year.

January–Knights and Castles; Pandas
February–Africa–the continent, people, and animals
March–Safety and Nutrition
April–Simple Machines; Abraham Lincoln
May–Light and Color; Charles Darwin
June–Vikings
July–Pirates
August–Cowboys and Trains
September–Renaissance
October–John Calvin and the Reformation
November–Colonial Days
December–Christmas Carols

I like unit studies too! However, as each of my children prefer different subjects, they each do their own. My children are currently working on flight, the Crusades, camping, and the Russian Revolution. Kind of an exciting mix huh?
