Tadeo Turtle book review
I’m happy to share with you today a review of the book Tadeo Turtle by Janis Cox! It’s a very sweet story about a turtle who sees his limitations when he watches a squirrel doing things he can’t do. God uses a dream to show him that He created Tadeo the way he wanted to, with very special abilities and skills. It’s a great story for teaching our children the same lessons!
The book is 28 pages long and is for ages 2-8. It is filled with Janis’ beautiful watercolor illustrations. Additionally, there are various turtle art projects in the back of the book: paper plate turtle, dough turtle, rock turtle, and felt board and a page of “research” (websites and other information about turtles).
We used the book as a springboard for an art lesson in watercolors.
Janis has also written a FREE unit study curriculum (for grades 1-2, but can easily be adjusted for more ages) that she can send you that gives 20 pages of different activities for learning about turtles, etc. There are activities for math, language arts, music, finger plays, Scripture, science, art, and physical education! I love the shape activity, the cute turtle poems, and great links about turtles!
This would be wonderful for a month-long (or summer-long!) study about turtles. You can get Tadeo Turtle from Janis’ website and be sure to ask her for the curriculum!
I gave Tadeo Turtle to my daughter whose birthday is next week. Janis wrote a sweet dedication to her!

(Thanks you to Janis Cox who provided a copy of the book and curriculum in exchange for this honest review.)
What a fun idea, making a watercolour lesson on painting turtles. And thanks for the information about the curriculum pack. I have a copy of Tadeo Turtle, but without any young kids in my life I haven’t looked into the bonus material.
