There are many things I love about blogging, but one of them is the opportunity to review different books and products that I wouldn’t have otherwise looked at.  Occasionally, I find a real gem!  And today’s book is one of those!  I’m privileged to tell you about the Little Angels Bible Storybook by Roma Downey and Carolyn Larsen.

Bible storybooks are everywhere nowadays, and I’ve had quite a few around here.  But this one will be read often!  We love the illustrations, the summaries of the Bible stories, the applications, and the simple and quick activities that accompany each lesson/story.

I’ve been reading the stories of the New Testament since we’re in that time period in our history study right now.  The kids I’ve been reading  to are 4, 5, and 7, and they love it!  They beg me to read more and more each time.

One thing I enjoy is doing the activity with each lesson.  I gave each of the kids a small notebook where they put their “work”.  The storybook is aimed for preschool age, so they do things like write the work “faith”, count to 12 (for the 12 baskets of food), draw a picture of a fish, pretend to be a colt, and make a cross with two wooden sticks.

Here is what it says at the Tyndale site:

You love the Little Angels animated DVDs from Touched by an Angel star Roma Downey!  Now children can read along with their favorite Little Angels characters as they experience 100 best-loved stories from the Bible. With each Bible story, kids will learn simple concepts such as numbers, letters, colors, basic life skills, and moral lessons.  The 100 Bible stories include fun illustrations and simple activities to encourage imagination and challenge children’s cognitive skills.  Also included are “life applications,” short prayers, and verses from the New Living Translation that kids will want to hide in their hearts forever!  Parents, grandparents, children’s ministry workers, daycare staff, and anyone who wants to help young children build a solid faith foundation will find this book to be an amazing resource for encouraging kids to grow in God’s Word.
