Why This Preschool Resource Is So Valuable

This set is not only fun—it also supports early learning in meaningful ways.

Builds Memory and Focus

The classic Memory (Concentration) game helps students strengthen short-term memory, visual recognition, and concentrated attention as they search for matching pairs.

Develops Problem-Solving and Social Skills

When students play Go Fish with the matching cards, they learn to take turns, ask questions, think strategically, and practice good sportsmanship.

Reinforces Early Math

The “I Spy” game supports counting, visual scanning, sorting, comparing, and pattern recognition—key foundational math skills.

Strengthens Fine-Motor Skills

Cutting, flipping cards, and marking answers all help develop dexterity and hand strength.

Two Classic Preschool Games to Play with the Matching Cards

1. Memory (Concentration)

Lay the cards face down in rows. Players take turns flipping over two cards, trying to find a match. If the cards match, the player keeps them and takes another turn. If not, the cards are flipped back over. Continue until all matches are found. The player with the most pairs wins.

2. Go Fish

Print extra sets if desired. Deal out cards to each player. Players take turns asking others for a specific card (for example, “Do you have any pumpkins?”). If the player asked has the card, they hand it over and the asker gets another turn. If not, the asker draws from the pile and their turn ends. The goal is to collect sets of four matching cards. The player with the most sets wins.
